2025 is going to be a busy year for the Mobile Belfries Trust. We already have 27 provisional and confirmed bookings for our two mobile belfries, including large shows and visits to schools and Scout and Guide Camps, where thousands of people will have the opportunity to find out more about bell ringing.

In 2024, through the generosity of Taylors, the Central Council of Church Bellringers, various Guilds and Associations and private individuals, we were able to make the Touring Tower operational. However, the project which originally commenced in 2021, has seen costs increase for various reasons and there remains a small shortfall which we need to close.

If we can initially raise £10,000 that will enable us to pay unpaid bills and commit expenditure which we have needed to defer. We will then be in a position where as a charity we can make a small surplus each year from our operational income and expenditure.

In the longer term we need to consider the future of the Charmborough Ring (currently in private ownership and on loan to the trust) and whether we need to commission a new, additional Touring Tower to cope with demand as we are already having to turn away bookings during the peak season.

We are therefore launching a ‘Supporter’ scheme towards our capital costs.
